Unearth are like Spinal Tap when it comes to the drummer position in their band. The band announced that up and comer Nick Pierce will permanently fill the vacancy behind the kit.

Pierce is a self-taught drummer who has been pounding the skins since he was 10. He cut his teeth in local bands in the Pacific Northwest region of Seattle and also did time in Los Angeles death metal band The Faceless, so he has a metal pedigree.

Pierce, who would play Unearth songs and then post the footage on YouTube, first manned the kit for Unearth in May 2011 during a trek to Alaska where they played a pair of shows and it worked out for the best.

In a statement, vocalist Trevor Phipps commented on Pierce being welcomed into the band, saying, “Nick is a beast of a drummer and a great guy to hang with. I look forward to jamming with him around the world for years to come.”

Pierce could barely contain his excitement about his new gig, saying, “I’ve been a fan of Unearth for many years and I’m excited to shred with a great group of guys and support our fans.”

Congrats to all parties involve. We hope they have a long-lasting and productive relationship in the studio and on the road.
