Want To Know What the Color of Your Urine Means?

Boy Scouts of America

Ah, the Boy Scouts. Where a young man can learn how to use a knife, how to start a fire, and how to diagnose how dehydrated he is from looking at his pee.

This chart from the Boy Scouts of America is actually fairly useful. The short answer to the question of “what your pee is telling me” is that the yellower it is, the more water you need to drink. Ideally, you want a pale, pale yellow.

This is old hat to former Scouts. One of the first things they teach in Outdoorsmanship is to look at your pee when you let fly and make sure you’re properly hydrated. No, really, the Scoutmaster sits you down before you even go into the woods and explains that to stay properly hydrated is about the most important thing a scout can do.

He’s right of course, but it doesn’t make it any less creepy.
