AFI are on the verge of the Jan. 20 release date of their 10th studio album, entitled AFI (The Blood Album). Having already released three singles, "White Offerings," "Aurelia" and "Snow Cats," the rock vets took to the set of Jimmy Kimmel Live! to play the latter as well as their Decemberunderground classic, "Miss Murder."

In the video above, host Jimmy Kimmel introduces the band, holding up a vinyl copy of the album, standing in front of a roaring crowd anxiously awaiting AFI's performance. "Snow Cats" is one of the more subdued tracks on the eponymous record, displaying a sense of urgency as the delicate, clean guitar passage offers a brief introduction before Davey Havok's familiar voice quickly begins navigating the emotional cut.

The energy picked up with the decidedly heavier and upbeat "Miss Murder," which can be seen below. A setlist staple since being release more than a decade ago, the song got the studio crowd moving as some jumped up and down, riding the anthemic feel of the downstroke on the upbeat.

We recently caught up with guitarist Jade Puget, who offered some insight into the writing of "Snow Cats." He said, "Once every record I like to do a song in 3/4 timing, that waltz time. Since it’s an odd time signature, you don’t want to overdo it too much. So I wrote this song sort of by myself, and I wrote the entire thing out — did all the drums, bass and guitar. I arranged it, but after I did it I was like, I don’t know if we really need to do a song like this on this record." The six-stringer went on to explain how he had temporarily discarded the track, ultimately sending it to Havok who came up with the lyrics and melodies.
