I just received the sweetest gift from a young lady. It was an awesome Christmas wreath. What I didn't know was there was apparently a little concern on how I would react to something Christmas oriented. The answer is, I love it.

About 25% of the U.S. population now identifies as "non-religious". The fact is, you're already buying gifts for people you know who aren't religious, they just may not have said anything to you yet.

Some of us who were previously religious do experience a variety of emotions. Eventually most end up in a place where the difference between religious and non-religious is no more than the difference between people who prefer waffles versus the people who prefer pancakes.

I wouldn't even bring this up, but I had the same question posed to me in regards to "what do I say if he sneezes?". Well, saying anything is nice. We're quite aware you're just being nice. I have to admit that I get tired of being told to have a blessed day and a few other things, but once again, I'm at a point when I try to realize that people are just being nice.

I still feel the same way about Christmas that I always did; I'm glad there's a season when people seem to be nicer to each other. I think there's too much emphasis on buying stuff. In other words, I believe in "the reason for the season", except I believe that reason is "to love  and help each other". If you want to couch that statement in religious terms, then good on you.

So what do you get an atheist for Christmas? For you guys to be awesome to each other.
