It's not a new policy for Whataburger, but it has put them back in the spotlight. In 2016, Open Carry officially becomes law in Texas, but that doesn't mean open carry is welcome everywhere.

The anti-gun organization, Moms Demand Action, had pressed for Whataburger to ban guns and Open Carry at their locations.

Preston Atkinson, president and CEO of Whataburger, responded in a press release posted on the company's website.

"Whataburger supports customers' Second Amendment rights and we respect your group’s position, but we haven't allowed the open carry of firearms in our restaurants for a long time (although we have not prohibited licensed conceal carry)," said Atkinson. "It’s a business decision we made a long time ago and have stood by, and I think it's important you know why."

What do you think about Whataburger's stance on open carry?
