Fall has arrived in Lubbock, and so has a change in produce.

Brenda Duby with United Supermarkets stopped by the studio this week to talk about eating seasonally.

"Eating seasonally is one of the big things I can help people with as far as cutting costs," Duby said. By eating seasonally, the produce is in abundance and as local as possible.

One of the big produce items this time of year? Apples. Granny Smith and Rome Apples are just two of the apples in season. Duby suggested trying Apple-Pears, which is a cross between an apple and a pear. They don't turn brown, which means they will look nice after you cut them open.

Duby also suggested taking advantage of the store's program, Ask For a Taste. If you wonder what a produce item tastes like at United, just ask!
