What The Heck Is Metallica Doing On The Grammy’s?

Metallica will be appearing and apparently performing on this years Grammy Awards.  Now, will they be doing some Metallica tunes or something else.  The recent press release from the Grammy's makes this song like some type of unlikely collaboration.

Metallica is only up for one weird, probably televised Grammy this year. It has something to do with the packaging/art on the "Through The Never" c.d. set.  The interesting thing is that the Grammy's use this wording about Metallica's performance:

METALLICA AND LANG LANG TO APPEAR IN A SPECIAL PERFORMANCE

Okay, so what is a "Lang Lang"?  Lang Lang is a Chinese concert pianist and the way this is phrased sure makes it seem like the two are playing together.  No disrespect to Lang Lang, but it's been 23 years since Metallica has performed at the Grammy's, it would be nice if they were just playing "straight up".  Then again, who knows.  We all thought it was a little weird when we first heard of "Symphony and Metallica" and that turned out great.

The Grammy's happen on January 26th.  Maybe we'll get some info before then (who am I kidding, I'll d.v.r. that crap and just watch Metallica the next day if people say it was cool).
