The final note has played and the 59th Annual Grammy Awards have come to an end. It was a great night for Megadeth and Cage the Elephant who won their respective categories, while Metallica had a rough night, losing out on their sole nomination for Best Rock Song while also enduring a performance with Lady Gaga that was plagued by an introduction flub and technical difficulties when James Hetfield's mic didn't function for part of the performance.

A number of other rock and metal artists missed out on big Grammy wins, with the late David Bowie being honored posthumously in a number of categories. Bowie won Best Rock Performance, Best Rock Song and Best Alternative Music Album for Blackstar and its title track, leaving acts like Iggy Pop, Metallica, Highly Suspect and Disturbed with the honor of just being nominated in each of their categories.

As stated earlier, Megadeth won the Best Metal Performance category for the title track off their Dystopia album, finally winning after being one of the most nominated acts in Grammy history without a golden gramophone. Korn, Gojira, Periphery and Baroness were the other nominees in the category. Meanwhile, Cage the Elephant also claimed their first Grammy after being previously nominated. The band's Tell Me I'm Pretty Album was named Best Rock Album over discs from Blink-182, Gojira, Panic at the Disco and Weezer.

For those interested in the big four categories of the night, Adele won Record of the Year and Song of the Year for "Hello" and Album of the Year for 25. Meanwhile, Chance the Rapper was named Best New Artist.
