Robert Plant reportedly tore up a contract that would have paid the band about $800 million for a 31 date Led Zeppelin tour.  Now keep in mind there's only three guys left in the band so that's a nice payday (like you'd get picky about "how many" millions" after that many).

The offer was reportedly made by Virgin founder Richard Branson.  Robert Plant's manager calls the source "rubbish". It does bring up a lot of questions.  So if there is some truth to the rumor, why would Robert Plant reject it?  Why not just do the tour and donate the money to cure EVERY DISEASE ON EARTH?  I think the answer to this is obvious, I don't think Robert Plant could pull off a full scale Led Zeppelin tour.  I just don't think he could "measure up" to anyone's expectations.   I just don't see Plant singing "Heartbreaker" with a full on amplified Led Zeppelin at his age.  That's kind of why I made the suggestion that the band do an acoustic tour. I think he could do that and make it pretty cool.

The question is, would you take the money and run?  Now, before you answer, keep in mind that Plant is probably a millionaire many times over, he just doesn't need the money.  So what would the point of a "big money grab" be?  Eliminating the money aspect, don't you think you'd want to do it for the fans?

I kind of understand where Plant is (most likely) coming from.  Then again, what's a month of your life when you can bring joy to so many (and maybe use the money to do some good)?   So what's your call? Would you take the money and run or just keep in semi-retirement and enjoy your life?
