Anthrax are just one day away from the release of their 11th studio album, For All Kings, and the thrash heroes have just unleashed a lyric video for "Breathing Lightning." The song made its premiere on BBC1 after the turn of the new year, but now fans can listen to the song all they want until the full album is available. The song marks a fresh sound for the veterans, who first left an impact on the metal scene over 30 years ago.

"Breathing Lightning" opens with some bright and optimistic sounds, but quickly gives way to a fun and bouncy rhythm. Joey Belladonna's signature voice enters, employing strong melodies as he truly feels freed up from the typically angsty Anthrax sound. The chorus lends itself to a radio friendly sound, but fans shouldn't cry foul at such a strong and well-developed hook that will surely see heavy crowd participation when performed live.

Talking about the song, guitarist and founder Scott Ian stated, “Lyrically, it’s another song that was influenced by Stephen King. Stephen King has been such a giant part of my life. His Dark Tower series; if I had to pick one thing that I love the most from him it would be the Dark Tower books because there’s seven books so I don’t have to choose one. The character Roland; it’s just something that stays with me a lot… I’m kind of weaving in and out of reality and fantasy in that song.”

Anthrax's For All Kings album is available to order via Amazon and iTunes. The band is currently on tour in support of the disc, with dates lined up into June. See their current itinerary here.
