Frenship and Shallowater ISD board members on Monday approved salary increases for all full-time teachers, librarians, nurses and counselors.

Frenship ISD says the salary increases will vary based on years of experience with an overall average increase of 10.5%. The minimum salary increase for employees on the salary schedule is 5.77%.

KAMC News reports that the Frenship board also approved a 4.5% pay increase for all other staff including maintenance and custodial staff, police officers, teaching assistants, clerical staff and administrators.

The Frenship board's approval of the new pay schedule follows recent legislative changes to school finance along with the District's plan to already increase pay this year.

Shallowater ISD said in a press release that "Under HB 3, 30% of new monies had to be spent on raises for teachers, counselors, librarians and nurses," and that it was the decision of board members to allocate a much larger percentage to all employees.
