Happy International Blasphemy Day
Do you remember how ridiculous things got over those Danish pictures of Muhammad?
You may remember that there were widescale protests and violence when a Danish Newspaper published pictures of Muhammad. In some countries, you can even be put to death for speaking out or against whatever religion is popular there. This sparked the idea for International Blasphemy Day.
The idea that you can be punished, on any level, for speaking out against a religion is insane. That's why days like today are important. They are intended to make people aware that these ridiculous practices are still in effect in many places. This day is also intended that even your religion should be subject to examination and criticism.
So Happy International Blasphemy Day, your right to criticize someone else's religion comes with their right to criticize yours and other peoples rights to criticize them all.
