It took 14 innings in the third and final game to crown a winner of the first of a handful of Lone Star Series this year, but the Houston Astros earned the win and clinched the series Sunday afternoon.

The first game of the series, the home opener of the Rangers' season at Globe Life Park, was thwarted by the Astros, as Houston drew first blood with a 5-1 victory Friday.

Saturday played out differently for the combatants, as the Rangers struck back and knotted the series with a 6-2 victory.

Then, 14 innings and 10 combined runs later, a winner was decided, as the Astros took the third, well-fought battle from the Rangers 6-4.

Up next for the two Texas teams on Monday, the Rangers play the Los Angeles Angels and the 'Stros do battle with the Oakland Athletics.
