
Shocking Study Reveals Just How Bad Car Theft Is in Texas
Car theft continues to be a major problem in Texas. I’ve reported on several studies over the years, and the Lone Star State is always among the worst states for car thefts. The latest study is no different.
Having something stolen from me is just about the most violated I have ever felt. I’ve had a car stereo, gasoline from the tank of my vehicle, and two different backpacks stolen from me. And while I did recover one of the backpacks, I never felt the same about it. It’s kind of weird when I think about it, but I went out and bought another one.

So, I can only imagine how violated a person must feel after having their vehicle stolen. I know I would have a hard time being in it if it were to be recovered. There’s just something about knowing some stranger with bad intentions occupied it at one time.
Hopefully, I’ll never know what it feels like to have a vehicle stolen. However, seeing as Compare the Market found Texas to be the ninth highest rate of car theft in the country, those of us who reside here had best be vigilant. 288 vehicles are stolen each day in Texas, on average.

When it comes to car brands, thieves are particularly fond of Hyundai cars. The Elantra and Sonata are the two most targeted models. The Kia Optima and Soul are also among the 5 most stolen vehicle models in the United States.
