(Mix 93-1)  Texas has been around for a very long time. Throughout its storied history, Texas has seen a lot of development and a lot of decay as well.

Communities, towns, and cities seemed to pop up overnight and dotted the landscape as railroads expanded westward in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

With the westward expansion came new mining opportunities and eventually the discovery of oil.

How These Texas Towns Boomed and Busted

The oil boom of the 1930s brought even more life to these growing communities and towns seemingly overnight and turning them into cities.

These industries, in addition to lumber and more, sustained life in many of these bustling baby cities throughout Texas.

However, over time, industries change, life changes, and the face of these population centers changes as well.

Over time, there are just a few residents left in these once-thriving commercial centers, along with some old buildings, remnants of roadways, and other signs that life once happened there.

These former Texas boom towns are now just a distant memory for most of us, but they live on in the historical archives of the county where they once thrived.
