Recent Food Recalls Impacting Lubbock

  • Beef Jerky Products: Springville Meat & Cold Storage recalled over 15,000 pounds of jerky products after failing to declare fish allergens (anchovies), potentially affecting consumers with severe fish allergies
  • Beef Tallow & Pork Lard: Sulu Organics LLC recalled approximately 6,166 pounds of uninspected tallow/lard products. Those found in pantries should be discarded or returned

  • Organic Ground Beef: A public health alert was issued for Organic Rancher 85% lean ground beef sold at Whole Foods with “Use or Freeze By” dates of June 19–20, 2025, due to potential E. coli O157:H7 contamination. (We don't have a Whole Foods in Lubbock, but if you purchased ground beef in another Texas city, this effects you.)

Topo Chico Too

A limited recall has been issued on 16.9 oz glass bottles of Topo Chico Mineral Water due to potential contamination with Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a bacteria that can pose health risks—especially for individuals with weakened immune systems The affected bottles were sold in 18‑pack cases at Costco and Sam’s Club locations across Texas between May 20–29, with lot codes 11A2543, 12A2543, and 13A2541 clearly listed on the bottle neck and packaging.

No illnesses have been reported so far . Nonetheless, officials urge Texans—especially those who are immunocompromised or use medical devices like catheters—to check their purchases immediately. Consumers should return all affected Topo Chico bottles to the retailer for a full refund or exchange.

What Lubbock Consumers Should Do

  • Inspect any 16.9 oz glass bottles of Topo Chico purchased in late May. Check for lot codes 11A2543, 12A2543, or 13A2541.

  • Return any recalled bottles to Costco or Sam’s Club for a refund.

  • Contact your healthcare provider if you consumed the recalled product and experience symptoms—especially infections, fever, or respiratory issues.

Nestlé USA Recalls Lean Cuisine and Stouffer's Frozen Meals

These items have been recalled due to wood contamination. The items were made between August 2024 and March 2025 and sold at major retailers across the United States between September 2024 and March 2025. These are the only Lean Cuisine and Stouffer's products in this recall.
