Increased Severe Weather Risks for the South Plains This Week
According to the National Weather Service, a cold front is moving through the South Plains bringing increased severe storms in it's wake.
Please stay advised for incoming storms and chances of 2-inch hail heading into tonight. Tomorrow brings even greater hail chance, with near-softball-sized hail possible tomorrow afternoon east of Lubbock reaching into the panhandle.
Weekly forecast
Aside from the potential for severe weather, the South Plains will see highs in the upper-70s and mid-80s today with a small chance for showers in King and Stonewall County.
Thursday is H-O-T, with highs in the mid to upper-90s and very dry. Unfortunately, this brings the increased risk for fire hazards as dry air blows in from the west on an already warm day.
Despite the severe weather chance tonight and tomorrow for parts of the South Plains, the extended forecast for this week is looking absolutely perfect for outdoor activities.
With highs in the 80s and 90s under clear, sunny skies, this Memorial Day weekend is shaping up to be a beautiful opportunity for family time outside.
Just remember to keep an eye on your local weather forecast for daily updates!
