In the town of Abernathy, located about 21 miles north of Lubbock, sits A Little Slice of Heaven. A cafe that has been the favorite of locals and out-of-towners alike for 10 years. The owners, Robert and Kim Hicks have served up great food while showcasing their love of God and even showing off some political opinions since opening. And that's just increased the amount of people showing up for to their cafe.

But on Tuesday night, A Little Slice of Heaven suffered a setback that the owners only hope they can come back from.

On Tuesday night a fire destroyed the 10-year-old business. It's a devastating loss not only for the family, but also for the community. In a recent interview, Robert expressed concern about their employees, who they consider family, who rely on the paychecks from A Little Slice of Heaven.

It's a tremendous loss for all heading into the Christmas season.

For now the Hicks family sit and wait to hear from their insurance company as they plan for what is next. That includes hopefully a rebuild and reopening.

First State Bank of Abernathy has set up a love fund where you can donate to the business and help the family and employees.

When A Little Slice of Heaven reopens, I know I will be there to welcome them back.
