Lubbock ‘Crips’ Gang Member Tased During Traffic Stop
A man in Lubbock, Texas, said to be affiliated with the 'Crips' gang, was tased twice and arrested after fleeing police during a traffic stop.
Lubbock Gang Member Arrested
A Lubbock police officer spotted a vehicle leaving Logie's Bar and driving up a nearby curb, getting the car stuck as a result. After the cop approached the car and told them to put it in park, the passenger, 29-year-old Javondrick Washington, reportedly rolled the window up and ordered the driver to leave.
The situation escalated after the driver tried to put the car back in park, following the orders of the officer. This was when Washington forced the car back into drive, forcing the cop to smash the car window with a baton. The cop attempted to place Washington in handcuffs, but he fled the scene instead.
The officer eventually caught up with Washington on foot and deployed his taser... twice. Finally, Washington was tackled to the ground and placed under arrest.
Lubbock Gang Member Charged with Nine Crimes
After officers searched the vehicle, they found two ecstasy pills and a handgun which Washington was not licensed to carry.
29-year-old Washington was previously identified as a member of the LA-based "Crips" gang, and had a former 2023 accusation of assaulting a pregnant woman he was in a relationship with at the time.
Javondrick Washington was booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center with nine charges brought against him, including evading arrest, unlawfully carrying a weapon, assault of a pregnant person, and possession of a controlled substance. His bond totaled a whopping $200,995.
What is the "Crips" Gang?
The "Crips" gang is typically known for their ongoing feud with rival gang "Bloods". Founded in Los Angeles back in 1969, this gang is mostly associated with the color blue. Detained members were commonly involved in murders, drug dealings, and robberies.

It's unclear how the gang got their name. Some believe it's a shortened version of "cripples" since there was a period of time where members would walk around with a cane to show their "pimp status," but others say the name stands for "Community Reform Interparty Service." The true origin remains a mystery.
