A second teenage girl in Frisco, Texas has passed away due to injuries sustained in a sledding accident with friends. Wakeland High School officials announced the Gracie Brito's death on Wednesday, just three days after her friend, Elizabeth Angle was killed.

Second Teenager Dies In Texas From Weekend Sledding Accident

Both girls were sophomore students at Wakeland High School in Frisco. According to police, Gracie and Elizabeth were sledding in an area that had been coated by ice and snow. Frisco Police said the sled was being pulled by a Jeep Wrangler driven by a 16 year-old-boy. The sled hit a curb and then struck a tree.

According to the Dallas Morning News, both girls were rushed to the hospital. Police have said there is no indication alcohol was involved with the accident and the Dallas Morning News reported that police have not announced if the teen driver will face criminal chargers or not.

Officials have said that the tragedy underscores the dangers posed by winter weather and some activities that people participate in when ice or snow falls in Texas. In North Texas near Bonham, 3 brothers, all under the age of 10 died when they fell through an icy pond.
