Texas border agents have seized over 4,000 rounds of ammo and $184,000 in unreported currency in two separate events along the U.S.-Mexico border.

CBP Officers Stop Massive Ammo Shipment

Just before 9 p.m. on Monday, May 5, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) arrested one 33-year-old male U.S. citizen after they found a whopping 4,000 rounds of 7.62 x 39 ammunition and 30 rounds of .50 caliber ammo.

The man was driving a 2017 Mercedes Benz CT300, and, when officers instructed him to stop for inspection, he decided to respectfully decline their order, taking off in the process.

After throwing spikes in the road ahead of him, the man's tires were then popped, preventing him from fleeing.

As officers approached his window, he refused to roll it down and even reached to grab an unknown object. This was when tasers were deployed to stop him from hurting himself or others. The 33-year-old was then arrested and the ammunition was discovered.

In addition to this, officers also discovered $1,203 in U.S. currency and $906 in Mexican pesos in the car.

Unreported Currency Along the Texas Border

Texas border agents were busy in the first week of May since they also seized nearly $185,000 in cash that--oopsie--didn't exist.

CBP made a point to emphasize that, although it's not a crime to travel with more than $10,000, it IS a criminal offense to not declare currency over $10,000 to a border officer while entering the U.S.
