Lubbock Real Estate: Risks Every Buyer Should Know About
Thinking about buying a home in Lubbock? It's a gamble, my friend. You could grab one at the best place in town for a steal and end up completely miserable, especially if you aren't from around here. It's almost like Lubbock homes should come with their own special warning labels.
Realtors Don't Tell You Everything
There are certain things realtors across the country are crossing their fingers you won't notice or ask many questions about, and for good reason. They won't make a sale if they can't talk you into looking at the brighter side of the deal.
Help For Lubbock Home Buyers

Warning Labels That Should Be On Lubbock Homes For Sale
- "Objects May Shift During High Winds" - The stuff out back might be ready to meet Jesus if you don't tie it down or repair it quickly. Don't even get me started on the shingles.
- "Not Safe For Human Habitation During Hail" - If your skylights look flimsy, your skylights are flimsy. I can't count how many times my parents replaced them when I was a kid.
- "Contains One (1) Strange Smell That Will Likely Never Go Away" - These are typically found in the garage, the bathrooms, or the spooky basement. If you smell it when they show you the house, you'll still smell it 5 years from now. Ask my cousin.
- "Prone To Sudden Playa Lake Formation" - Notice a puddle in the yard? That's going to be a lake when it rains. Viewing homes during a thunderstorm might be the best way to avoid buying a disaster zone.
- "Insulation Not Included" - There's nothing but a little wood separating you from the elements in some Lubbock homes. You may not notice at first, but after the first big wind storm, you'll never forget. You'll be sweeping up dirt EVERYWHERE.
- "This Neighborhood Becomes A Haboob Every Time The Wind Blows" - New construction might mean a new home, but it also sometimes means a new home next to an open field of nothing but dirt. Good luck with that.
Be Careful, Potential Home Owners!
This is just a reminder of what you're up against when you purchase a home in Lubbock! I highly recommend checking out potential homes during some kind of storm, on a hot day, or when it's freezing out. It could help you prevent disasters your realtor doesn't want you to know about...
