Lubbock Police Department's Major Crash Investigation Unit is investigating a fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred on Wednesday, May 6th.

A press release from the Lubbock Police Department identified the victim of the hit and run as 52-year-old Lydia Lopez.

According to the department, the driver of a vehicle traveling southbound on Zenith Ave. struck Lopez and her motorized wheelchair around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday afternoon near the 1900 block of 1st Place.

LPD said that the driver of the vehicle failed to stop and render aid, fleeing the scene.

Lopez was transported to University Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased.
