Legendary punk rock band Social Distortion rode Lubbock hard Thursday night (Oct. 9), rollicking through songs from their 30+ year career. The kicker? It was Mike Ness and company's first time playing the Hub City.

"I don't know why it took us so long to get here, but it's good to be here," Ness said, garnering raucous applause from the Lubbock crowd.

The band tore through a set full of classics and new tracks at the Lonestar Pavilion, including "I Was Wrong," Machine Gun Blues" and "The Creeps (I Just Wanna Give You)."

Ness' gravelly snarl and well-worn lyrics had the sweaty audience singing along and pumping their fists; 30 years of waiting all released in 90 minutes.
