The 14th Annual Layne Staley Tribute show, which honors the late Alice In Chains frontman, will take place on Aug. 22 at The Crocodile in Seattle and will feature three tribute bands.
Although Mad Season only got 1 album done before Layne Staley's overdose, "Above" was such an incredible album that it still stands against anything today. And now it's getting a re-issue and mini documentary.
Mad Season was a 90's "supergroup" featuring Layne Staley of Alice In Chains, Mike McCready of Pearl Jam, Barret Martin of Screaming Trees and bass player John Baker Saunders. Also involved with the project to a lesser degree was Screaming Trees vocalist Mark Lanegan. More after the jump.
In the past 10 years the band Alice in Chains has lost two of its founding members to drug overdoses. Layne Staley, the lead singer, died in April of 2002, and Mike Starr, the bassists died, earlier this year; both after years of battling drug addiction.
