
Texas Alert: DermaRite Recall of Soaps and Skincare Products Over Sepsis Risk
Washing your hands, hair, or body should help eliminate bacteria on the skin. However, DermaRite washing products sold in Texas have been recalled because they may contain a dangerous pathogen.
Why Are DermaRite Products Being Recalled?
The products may contain a microbial contamination known as Burkholderia cepacia complex.

The following is a risk statement published by Dermarite, which has recalled the products, "out of an abundance of caution."
Burkholderia cepacia complex in these products may result in serious and life-threatening infections if the products are used by immunosuppressed individuals or by people attending to immunosuppressed individuals. For healthy individuals with minor skin lesions, the use of the product may result in local infections, whereas in immunocompromised individuals the infection could spread into the blood stream, potentially leading to life-threatening sepsis.

Cleansers & Body Washes: 3-N-1, 4-N-1, Clean-N-Free, DermaRain, DermaVera, PeriFresh, PeriGiene, Renew Hair and Body Wash, Renew Full Body Wash & Shampoo, TotalBath, TotalFoam, WhirlBath
Lotions & Moisturizers: DermaCerin, DemaDaily, DermaVantage, LubriSilk, Renew Skin Repair
Skin Protectants: PeriGuard, Renew Dimethicone, Renew Periprotect, Lantiseptic
Wound & Treatment Products: DemaKlenz, DermaSyn, DermaMed
Antifungal & Analgesics: DermaFungal, DermaSarra

Any of these products with an on or before Expiry date of 08/27 should be considered potentially harmful and should not be used.
