Mac McClung gained acclaimed in high school for his electric play style and social media fame. Instagram pages like Overtime and Ballislife shared videos of McClung and dubbed him White Iverson. After he dominated high school, including dropping 47 in the state finals, and amassing a solid social media following he committed to Georgetown to play for NBA legend Patrick Ewing.

In two seasons with the Hoyas McClung put up some solid numbers including scoring 15.7 points per game as a sophomore. He shot 80% from the free-throw line but wasn't particularly spectacular from the field shooting 39% from the field. Not a good percentage but it doesn't matter because the production is absolutely there.

McClung also is a solid defender with a 107.2 adjusted defensive rating per 100 possesions.

Originally after the season's abrupt end, McClung decided to enter the NBA Draft. Shortly after that announcement, his Georgetown coach Ewing announced McClung would be returning to school and withdraw his name from the NBA draft. That didn't sit well with McClung who told ESPN that that clouded his pre-draft process.

"It was a number of different events that made me feel I had no choice but to transfer from Georgetown," McClung also said in an ESPN interview. "I really wanted to stay, but things throughout my career made me realize that I couldn't... I'm looking for a place I can call home. A place I can be a part of a family and help them succeed."

After announcing his decision to transfer, he announced his top seven with a short video with himself photoshopped into the various school's jerseys with Texas Tech's scarlet jersey prominently featured.

In the days following new Red Raider by way of VCU via transfer mentioned the video on twitter.

Then another new Red Raider joined in on the recruitment, but it didn't stop there.

Former St. John's transfer and single-season block leader for the Red Raiders Tariq Owen's told McClung how good the Texas Tech fans are.

Then his teammates doubled down when Jarrett Culver and Matt Mooney chimed in.

That's when things got serious and the MVP told McClung to make the National Championship run in Lubbock. You might remember Mahomes being the Red Raiders number one fan through their last NCAA tournament run all the way to the National Championship game against Virginia.

The potential deal sealer then came from current Red Raider Kyler Edwards who offered his own jersey up to McClung if he wanted to come to Lubbock and keep the number 0.

McClung will make his decision in the next few weeks. The NCAA will allow voluntary workouts for Men's basketball starting on June 1st, but it might take Davide Moretti deciding to sign in Italy for McClung to sign to play in Lubbock. There are so many moving parts that we'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out.
