A Lubbock man who was initially indicted in 2017 for sexual assault of a child instead accepted a plea deal for aggravated assault after the victim changed her story.

KAMC News reports that the judge stopped the trial for Aaron Michael Tucker after the victim, who is now an adult, changed her story. The judge told the woman she needed to get an attorney, because she could be subject to perjury charges.

Tucker's defense attorney says that the sexual assault allegations were false from the very beginning.

Prosecutors offered Tucker the chance to plead guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for a completely different case. According to court records, Tucker threatened two people with a gun in May of 2017.

Tucker accepted the plea deal and will be sentenced on May 1st. The terms of the deal include a 4-year sentence for aggravated assault.
