Video: A Texas Ferris Wheel Lost A Support Beam During Ride

The headline is enough to make me shudder. I'm terrified of Ferris wheels. Have been since I was a kid. This is my worst nightmare.

News made the rounds yesterday of a Ferris wheel in Texas that lost a beam while passengers were on the ride. Thankfully, no one was hurt.

It happened at Magical Winter Lights in La Marque. According to Magical Winter Lights, what you see fall off the ride in the video was an aluminum support beam which isn't vital to the ride's operation.

Still, it just reinforces my strong desire to stay as far away from Ferris wheels as possible.

According to news reports, the fix was a minor one and the ride is back in operation.
