Being in radio, I'm always asked about my favorite bands, songs, singers, etc. However, I don't think I've ever been asked who my favorite guitarist is. Well, if I had to pick just one, then I'd have to say my favorite guitarist is....

...Joe Satriani!

Why is he my favorite? Just because. The guy is amazing. He can make his axe sing. His instrumental songs tell stories. It's tough to tell a story without lyrics, but he has the magic to do so. I'm no guitar virtuoso so I can't use those big fancy words to describe his technique and all, I'm just answering a question. Joe Satriani is my favorite guitarist. As a matter of fact, my favorite song is "Always With Me, Always With You" by Joe Satriani (video below).
