It's a fairly new extreme sport. It involves swinging on a rope from natural rock arches, like many of the ones found in Utah. and, yes, it's extremely dangerous if you don't do it right.

OK so my pun in the title was probably a little crude because that's what happened to a man who miscalculated the length of rope he needed to swing. Not a problem if you err on the side of too short. Big problem if your rope is too long.

So, yes, a man died doing this. but does that mean it should be made illegal? No! He knew the risks.

As John Andrews, general counsel for the School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration (some kind of official group in Utah) said, "If people want to huck themselves off a cliff or arch that’s their business". Yes, yes it is.
