Johnny Depp stars as Barnabus Collins in the movie "Dark Shadows." The movie is based on a long running horror soap opera of the same name. That's not what I noticed about this picture.
The first thing I noticed is that it would be VERY painful to get a prostate exam from Depp. The next thing I noticed is his similarity to another VERY famous vampire.

Despite my love of horror movies, I wasn't the biggest "Friday the 13th" fan. To me they were mostly just kill scene followed by kill scene with very little story or tension in between them. It's for that reason I'm going to hand this list over to somebody who obviously LOVED the series. More after the jump.

I read a book called "The Zombie Survival Guide" that was an excellent parody of a cold war survival manual. The book, by Max Brooks portrayed "zombieism" as a real thing and dealt with why bodies reantimate, why zombies are "hungry", what happens to zombies that eat too much and of course the various things you should do to defend yourself against the undead hordes. In the back of the book there were case histories (short stories) about zombie battles. That portion of the book was so popular, the them was expanded into the book "World War Z". That book is now being made into a movie by and starring Brad Pitt. More after the jump.
Only one movie is opening in wide release this weekend, but it looks like it has enough fright-factor to jolt you into the New Year without any outside help.
Yeah, I'm back on Netflix, barely. As you may know most of the stuff on the streaming service is horribly old and/or crappy. I accidentally signed back up when I thought they had some episodes of "Sons Of Anarchy" that I was missing. I still refuse the DVD by mail thing; with my bluray hooked up to my wireless internet, I can just buy or stream direct from Amazon. Anyways, I digress. The point is, there is still something Netflix does well and that's foreign and hard to find movies. I don't have any problem reading subtitles if the movie is good enough. With all of that out of the way, let's talk about "Cold Fish" next.
You know the formula, sexy young college coeds head to a place where no-one can find them for drinking drugs and sex. Then they start dying right in the middle of all the juicy sex scenes making sure your lady won't want to do anything after the movie because now she's "freaked out" or something
Piranha was a GREAT horror comedy. It knew exactly what it was, who its audience was and what was expected of it. It delivered on every single count, all the way down to the surprise ending.
