The organizers of the Blue Ribbon Rally could not have asked for a better day to host the 15th annual event to benefit the Family Guidance and Outreach Center of Lubbock to help prevent child abuse.

You may have noticed that prior to the FMX Big Purple Party we had to have contests to get listeners to post their photos for us to use on our website. Yes, "photographers" went to the FMX Spring Thing and X-Fest, but we never saw anything from them. So when listeners ask simple questions like "who took that picture of me?" We had no idea. Some of these folks even told or implied to the band, the promoter, the gate people and the concert goers themselves that they were somehow connected to the radio station ( I confirmed this with the promoter this morning). Man, I don't know what can be said about the FMX Purple Party other than awesome. We got lucky with the perfect day, no real attitudes among the bands, the staff or the crowd. Best of all, everybody seemed willing to check out each others music. More after the jump.

Whoops, we went legit! Some people have asked why we call this the "4th Annual FMX Fly & Fling" when they know there were a dozen or more. Well let's just say that those earlier events, while we attempted to make them family events, generally turned into giant parties with week long hangovers and a bunch of regrets. After a long pause (enough to forget some of our less proud moments) the City Of Lubbock approached us about bringing a different version of the event back. The 'new and improved' FMX Fly and Fling's are no truly family events with cool kids stuff, kites, frisbees and more. One thing hasn't changed though, we JAM up the tunes.
