Believe it or not, I do look for positive political stories and I give props when they are due. I finally found something good to say about our current governor.

I really wanted to title this story: "Governor Greg Abbott Exhibits Rare Moment of Sanity." The truth is, Gov. Abbott has made such a habit of petty finger-poking at the U.S. Government that he often looks like the leader of the Kook Squad.

I'm not really going to take that back, but I am going to say that I do appreciate that he has made a smart, measured statement regarding efforts by whackadoodles for Texas to secede. (Lesson no. one, whackadoodles: It's "secede," not "succeed" or any other random combination of letters you throw together.)

When asked about a Texit by conservative radio host Sean Hannity, Gov. Abbott told a talk show host that the U.S. actually needs to be more like Texas, and that America "longs" to be like Texas.

Okay, so much for the sanity I mentioned earlier. Texas ranks 43rd in education, last in healthcare, 46th in teen pregnancy, 25th in median income and so on. Oh, and we're apparently cutting some $350 million from kids with disabilities.

Still, I want to commend our Governor on not being completely crazy, but just very confused as to what America wants. It's a start, and at least that's something.
