Josh Jung not being the Big 12 Player of the Year is a travesty. Even though he was named to the All-Big 12 first team, and also lead the Big 12 in batting average, hits, RBI, runs, total bases and on-base percentage, something just doesn't sit right.

With that being said, Jung could be moving on to a bigger and more prestigious award as Josh Jung was placed on the USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award Semifinalist List.

It marks back-to-back seasons a Red Raider has been named a semifinalist for the award, as Steven Gingery was selected as one of the top 25 for the honor in 2017. Jung started 53 games for the Red Raiders at third base and lead the team in hits (84), RBI (71) and runs (62).

The 2018 Golden Spikes Award winner will be named on Thursday, June 28, at a presentation in Los Angeles. Jung and the Red Raiders will try their luck in the opening round of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship at Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City. They will take on the #6 seed TCU Wednesday, May 23, at 7:30 p.m.
