Top-tier teams fall all around the sports spectrum in this week's sports recap.

Let's talk some football.

Kansas State getting dismantled in Waco, Oregon getting edged in Eugene, even Utah State taking out Louisiana Tech in Ruston, all of it happened this weekend.

The result? An earthquake hitting the BCS standings, allowing Notre Dame to assume the top position and placing Alabama right back into position to take another shot at yet another championship.

In the NFL, there weren't any real standout upsets, though there was some solid action across the board. Watching a young Colin Kaepernick take hold of the reins in San Francisco and delivering was a treat, and three overtime games didn't disappoint, including a scare in Houston delivered by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Turning to college hoops, Chaminade defeated the Texas Longhorns in the Maui Invitational, an upset reminiscent of the Silverswords' win against once top-ranked Virginia on November 19, 1982. Funny how that kind of stuff works out, isn't it?

Interesting stuff this week all throughout sports, but what lies ahead?
