Whether you like the name or not, there is a "hip hop culture." It's a way of speaking, a way of acting, a way of dressing and sometimes more.  There are some cases when it's kind of dumb, but I've got one where they get it right.

I'm referring to the hip-hop slang word "haters." The reason the culture gets this word right is-there is no appropriate term that means the same in the American vernacular. The closest you might come is pessimists, but even that doesn't even come that close. Now, if any grown person that uses "axe" instead of "ask" is just lame, but "haters" is perfection.

"Haters" are persons that want to put you down because of your successes, whatever they may be.  "Haters" feed on negative energy and attention. "Haters" are like moths to a flame-they try to make themselves feel good by putting someone else down. "Haters" deflect from their own deficiencies by trying to point out yours.

Heathen and I bandied this one about and about the closest definition we could (seriously) come up with is "jealous jerk or assh@le".  Here's the actual definition according to the Online Urban Dictionary.

So now that we've defined the word, don't let this people get you down.  Ex-boyfriends and ex-girlfriends are famous for this type of behavior. People you've left behind in order to better your life love to complain. People with no real success to their name love to bring everyone down, when they should be working on bettering themselves.

I myself try to "disappear" the haters. They no longer exist in my world. They mean nothing. They are nothing. They amount to nothing. They are ghosts in this world. I wish them the best, but they mean as much to me as some random guy you'd find on the street in China or somewhere. They just don't exist in my realm.

Haters in general are like cockroaches, if you keep it positive, they will scatter out of the light. Don't feed them with fear, or fights or even acknowledgement.  Ignore the haters and they'll eventually go away. Surround yourself with positive people who want to help you reach your goals, not people that want to hold you back.  In other words-don't hate, celebrate(yeah, I did it).
