Tough.  Celebrity birthdays and 'this day in history" are what we in the radio business call "hack features".  Let's define the word 'hack'.  "Hack" means overdone usually by amateurs or lazy people.  These features have been so much though, that you've been trained to like or expect them even though they are the most pointless things in this world.  More after the jump.

Everybody has a birthday.  Contrary to what you may have heard, not everybody has a butthole or a bellybutton, but they were all born.  You know what 'celebrity' was born on your birthday: YOU!  Who cares if you share a birthday with Sly Stallone (who wasn't 'born' with the name "Sly Stallone" by the way).  It doesn't mean you know Sly, it doesn't mean you were in his movies and it sure doesn't mean that being under the same planetary configuration is going to affect your life in any way.

What about "this day in history'.  There are certain days that DO deserve to be recognized, but 9 times out of 10, 'this day in history' has more to do with something like 'the invention of sewing machines' than it has to do with the 'first man on the moon'.

The point is, don't let this fluff rule your life and recognize it for what it is: it's filler.  Now I don't think it's a big deal if your favorite d.j. mention for instance  that it's Dave Grohl's birthday before he plays a Foo Fighters song, but if you're reading or hearing a grocery list of celebrity birthdays or historical events that have no relevance you're just gumming up your brain with cotton-candy flavored crap.
