Wes

I joined the FMX staff not long after the station was formed in 1981. Worked my way up to mornings (The Breakfast Flakes) & bossman. Did radio Austin for a couple years, and about a year and a half in lovely Spokane Washington. Got a call to come back to Lubbock as bossman and did not leave. Did mornings as "Jacqui & Wes", rocked some middays and eventually put the RockShow together with the Heathen. I am also midday host on another one for the most respected radio stations in America, the legendary Rock 108 in Abilene and enjoy my many visits to the city. I love blogging and am one of the most widely read bloggers in the company with over a million page views last year. I work on several websites and a bunch of social media. I am not afraid of stating ANY opinion; I feel it's important to be real. I am co-owner of Nightmare on 19th Street and the soon to be launched "Freaky Tiki Tavern" in Lubbock. I believe strongly in blood donation and in helping animals. My musical tastes are all over the map.

Do We Need Religion In Public Schools?

If you think we need religion in schools, I have one question for you.  Which one?  Well, since you're from around here, you probably say Christianity. And again, I'd say "which one?".  Experts put the amount of different Christian denominations at around 33,000 variations and that's the low end. There's a reason why there's a "First Baptist Church" and a "Second Baptist Church".

Jade Helm To Officially Produce More Nuts Than Planter’s

Okay, this is a tough one. The more you write about how stupid something is, the more opportunities it gives for the idiots to deny it.  Still, this won't go way until September, so let's have some fun.

What would you say if I told you there was a crazy person in Austin? Chances are you'd either say "there's a lot of crazy people in Austin" or "everybody's crazy in Austin".  Okay, now that we have this established, almost all of the conspiracy theories about Operation Jade Helm were started by the same radio personality in Austin. He's been doing this kind of thing for 20 years and still, hasn't ever been proven right. He's such a conspiracy nut, that there is a conspiracy about him (that he's really comedian Bill Hicks).

Abstinence Only Education Is a Complete and Total Failure

"Just Say No." We all snickered at that phrase when Nancy Reagan used it to try to keep kids off drugs. That didn't work and drugs are scary. Sex, isn't scary. In fact it's pretty fun and it's part of our biological imperative. Trying to tell kids to just say no to sex is like trying to tell them not to sleep, eventually the urge will get the best of them.

What Are The Most Random Or Weird Pictures On Your Phone?

I"m willing to bet every one of you has some "random" pictures on your phone. After all, who hasn't taken pictures of some weird stuff they've run across? I pretty sure this is the whole reason they put cameras in phones to begin with.  Well, I found three pictures on my personal Facebook feed that I thought you might enjoy.

The Very Funny Missi Pyle Guest Stars On Gay Of Thrones [VIDEO]

Oh I got a "thing" for Missy Pyle. She is hot, hot, hot and funny too. In fact you probably best remember her as the unibrowed Russian in the movie "Dodgeball" or as Laliara in Galaxy Quest. In addition she's done about a hundred guest shots on t.v. and movies. Well, AT LEAST a hundred. Now she can add "Gay Of Thrones" to her resume.

Happy Cinco De Mayo!

Well, were do we start here?  First Cinco De Mayo is NOT "Mexican Independence Day". It's a celebration of the the "Battle Of Puebla" in which Mexican forces whipped the French in 1862.  It was basically 2000 under-equipped Mexicans versus 6000 Frenchmen and they whooped 'em good. This was good for the U.S. too, because some thought if the French won, they'd use Mexico as a launching point to get involved in the civil war.

Bret Michaels Goes Country and They Can Keep Him [VIDEO]

I remember the very week I moved to Austin, Texas. I dreaded going to a "classic rock" station. That week though, the new Poison album came in and I thought "At least I won't have to play that crap." Sorry, I helped bring heavy metal to Texas, but by the time it turned into acts like Poison, I was done with it.
