Big In Texas: The Largest High School, College, And Pro Football

We continue to find the biggest and best in the Lone Star State.

I think it's pretty safe to say that the state of Texas loves football. It's also safe to say that we love everything bigger in Texas. Let's combine those two and see what we can come up with.

On the pro level, you probably already knew that AT&T Stadium, the home of the Dallas Cowboys was going to rule the roost. What you may not know is that its capacity is "only" 80,000 people, which means it isn't even close to the largest college football stadium. It is apparently "expandable" to hold 105,000 people, so technically when expanded it does become #1.

On the college level, the honor of having the "largest stadium in Texas" goes to Kyle Field, home of the Texas A&M Aggies. The capacity at the home of the maroon and white is over 102,000 people. Somehow they managed to squeeze 110,000 people for a game against Ole Miss.

Now, heading back to high school, it looks like the clear winner is Happy State Bank Stadium in Canyon Texas. This stadium holds a whopping 20,000 people for high school football games. Apparently, this stadium serves several schools in the Canyon Independant school district.

We should also mention that the Cotton Bowl holds up to 92,000 people, but it has no regular tenant. The Cotton Bowl does see regular football games, including the "Red River Showdown" featuring Texas and Oklahoma.

So those are the biggest football stadiums in Texas, for now, because as sure as Texas loves football, someone, at some time will build an even bigger one.
