You can say I'm fortunate or unfortunate but Van Halen's rise pretty much coincided with me growing up. I guess I would have been about 16 when the first album came out and I was instantly a big fan.  When I heard the David Lee Roth had written a book, I was all about seeing what was going on with the band while I was growing up listening to them.

Now, for Corey Taylor my interest is two-fold. Not only have I found his music to be some of the most exciting and interesting around, we also share very similar philosophies.  So I was also very quick to pick up his first book and was not disappointed.

David Lee Roth played a small show with a backup band made up up of a Van Halen tribute act.  It was actually a genius idea, because these "tribute" artists usually have to be more on target than the real thing to be accepted.  They absolutely slayed.  I went around back to meet Dave and was told that he wasn't seeing anybody.  I then asked the roadie if he could just take my book back for an autograph. He agreed and seconds later Dave brought the book back himself.  It was pretty cool.

With Corey Taylor I just let Rooster handle the duties. I had met Corey on a number of occasions with Slipknot and I wanted to give Rooster a chance to hang out. Rooster did want the book to have an ordinary inscription so he arranged for Corey to write a little something special in the book for me.  Now keep in mind that this book went to #1 on the New York Times Best Seller list.  I don't think Dean Koontz ever signed a book "Eat My Sh!t".
