Fireworks in City Limits Is Not Just a Lubbock Issue

Fireworks are fun. Fireworks are pretty. Fireworks are dangerous.

Video from New Year's Eve around the city of San Antonio has been circulating online, demonstrating the clear disregard for the rules and regulations prohibiting the use of fireworks within city limits.

KENS 5 also posted a video showing the firework activity within the city of San Antonio limits.

All of this seems to suggest that there are few people who actually observe the rules regarding fireworks in Texas. Lubbock has the same sort of issues, though on a much smaller scale.

The damage to property can be devastating, especially when living in drought conditions.

We've reached out to the Lubbock Police Department to inquire about the number of firework enforcement calls and citations issued during New Year's Eve, and will update this post with that information when those numbers are received.
