I actually saw somebody post this claim online.

So is the Loop trashier than usual? I'm going to say upfront, it WAS at least for a while, true.

I have added just a bit of travel to my life in recent years and some of it has been very eye-opening. I was able to visit the lovely city of St. Louis, Missouri and I would recommend it to anybody. Just like any other place in the U.S.A., it has good parts and bad parts, but there was one thing that struck me like no other, and that was the insane amounts of trash on both sides of the highways. I, in fact, never really thought about how clean it was in Lubbock until I saw how dirty it was somewhere else.

Still when I saw someone post, "Is Loop 289 really dirty right now" on social media, I started taking mental notes about what I saw. For the most part, everything was as clean as usual, but there were portions of the West Loop that were absolutely disgusting.

I am not aware if the messes over there have been picked up or not, but I can tell you that they were there for at least a week to ten days. Here are a couple of pics I took about two weeks ago:

Pretty nasty right? It's really not the kind of thing I expect to see in Lubbock. I don't know whose job it is to pick it up, but I will say it's all of our jobs to not litter and let it get this bad. I think it's time some people learn what "Don't Mess With Texas" was really all about.
