The City of Lubbock and Lubbock Animal Shelters will be participating in a national program meant to promote animal rescue and adoption. Saturday is the National Clear the Shelters event, and on August 27th the Lubbock Animal Shelter will offer free adoptions.

According to a press release from the City of Lubbock, between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 27th, citizens can show up to 3323 South East Loop 289 and adopt a new furry friend. All adoptions are free, and the City of Lubbock has a goal of adopting 100 animals during this year's event.

Lubbock Animal Services will have a bounce house and free cotton candy for kids (while supplies last). According to the City of Lubbock, this event is part of a national event aimed at encouraging adoptions from animal shelters across the United States:

This is the fifth consecutive year that LAS has taken part in the national event.

Clear The Shelters is an annual, nationwide pet adoption campaign. Since 2015, the campaign has resulted in more than 700,000 pets finding new homes and families. It is the best day for the community to come together and adopt, foster or volunteer. It is the biggest event of the year and we want as many pets to get out of the shelter as possible.

So if you're looking to add a new furry friend to the family, go check out the Lubbock Animal Shelter this weekend and give a deserving dog or cat a second chance.
