Do you think it's okay to feed the homeless? Well think again! And I for one, am agreeing with the decision for a couple of reasons.

Check out his quote from our sister station KFYO:

A local group that prepares and serves homemade meals to the homeless were stopped yesterday because they lacked a permit. City officials say that food ordinances require a permit to serve food and that the food must be prepared in a kitchen that was inspected by the city.

I'm the cold-hearted bastard that AGREES with the decision.  Sorry,  no one is going to like this analogy but, if you feed stray dogs, more stray dogs will show up and the ones you fed will not leave.

I have been on the edge of homelessness and hunger.  They are great motivators.  I didn't want to be roofer, but I did it to eat.  And I hated roofing so bad I started banging on the door of the broadcast industry (and the rest is history).

I have no problem supporting homeless organizations.  I don't believe in a "free lunch".  I believe in programs that will feed and try to place these people in better situations. Not all will take the help, or take the jobs, but at least there is an attempt to reintegrate them into society.

So what about this specific situation where the city is saying that the food has to be prepared in a licensed kitchen?  Well, the minute the city became aware of it, they had to act, otherwise they could be sued if someone fell ill.

Anyways, what are you thoughts? Should we feed the homeless, and should food "given away" be regulated?
