Metal and pop music have been crossing paths with increasing regularity, whether it's bands dipping into more accessible sonic territories or collaborations like Metallica's Grammy performance with Lady Gaga. Well, it's 'Tallica again as they're seen in the latest trailer for Carpool Karaoke singing "Diamonds" from pop sensation Rihanna.

The show is a spinoff backed by Apple of the popular Late Late Show With James Corden segment and will feature Corden as well as actor / comedian Billy Eichner. Among the guests, which includes the likes of Will Smith and Michael Strahan, are Metallica, who look out of place singing "Diamonds," playing along with the fun. At first, all four members sound familiar with the song, but awkward, bewildered looks settle in for a moment, particularly with Robert Trujillo.

So far, we know Metallica not only sing the Rihanna hit, but their own classic, "Master of Puppets" as seen in a previous trailer. The thrash kings also ventured outside of the confining comforts and privacy of singing aloud in the car and into a supermarket, where they set up some stereo equipment and starting belting out "Enter Sandman" with a deli counter employee who couldn't have been more enthused to join in.

Earlier this week, Metallica announced their long-anticipated North American tour, confirming the rumors of a stadium tour. Avenged Sevenfold, Volbeat and Gojira will all be in tow with each band playing select dates on the run. See if the trek is stopping near you with the help our of 2017 Guide to Rock + Metal Tours.
