Wow, I can't believe the MTV Video Music Awards are still a thing. Pardon my language if you continue to read after this point.

The whole VMA thing just seems like a giant circle jerk of awful pop stars. It's just a bunch of idiots arguing over whose producer made the best backing track for them to lip sync to.

This year's VMAs were apparently not much more than host Miley Cyrus showing off her teenage boy's body and Nicki Minaj starting a beef with her (I am seriously underwhelmed at all of this). Let's also keep in mind how overdone all of this is by reminding you that Minaj's big hit is based off a sample of "Baby's Got Back," which was built on a sample of another song. Yeah, that's talent: sampling a sample of a sample.

Let me also point out that while all of this was going on, Disturbed was enjoying the no. 1 album in the country and MTV had no hard rock categories in the show at all. Then there's the fact that the show is celebrating something it no longer plays, and that's videos.

I'm glad my MTV is gone. I don't want my MTV.

This promo for the show pretty much sums it all up.
