It will be a dark night for this years fireworks displays.  We will have a new moon that night.

A new moon is the polar opposite of a full moon. The moon should be invisible to us that night. That means your fireworks will burn brighter in the dark.

It's odd that there are few myths associated with a lack of a moon. I guess it's just easier to think about stories about something that is "there" as opposed to something that is "not there". Myself, coming from a horror/Halloween type mindset would think the "dark and scary" would overwhelm any stories about brightly lit full moon nights. Time has proven me wrong because it's the full moons that get credit for craziness, werewolves and the like.

If you're looking for the next full moon to get your personal howl on, you'll be waiting until July 19th when we experience a "Full Buck Moon". I'll have more on that later.
