I really hate to write about this, but blogging is now a big part of what I do. So keep in mind that this is a minor, minor thing in my world, but apparently it's a big deal to others.  Read more after the break.

A while back we decided to promote a local band. They deserve it. They work hard, they wrote a great song and produced it well. I took to my blog and used them as an example of "how to do it". Immediately a lot of other local bands took offense. I'm sorry, but even if your band is "ready" it doesn't mean that it's a fit for us and so on. One particular band took very strong offense and took to calling us names and trashing us on websites.  A screen cap was sent to me of this behavior (and it wasn't the first time for this individual).  Meanwhile we had a great local show booked with four bands.  One of the bands dropped off after I agreed to promote the show and the very individual who was trashing us was booked on the show.  Now, would you promote a band and put a live microphone in the face of someone who hates you?  I don't think so. We then informed all parties that we would have to walk away if that opening band was included on the bill. I don't think that's unreasonable, there are hundreds of gigs in this town, we just didn't want them on OUR bill.  At this point a friend of the band (the  first guy is actually in two bands) inserted himself in the situation. This wannabe promoter (it's my opinion that he uses that title just to sneak into shows) decided to escalate the situation and started calling me names personally. Now, I'm guilty of not considering the source. As one of our listeners posted, "an empty can rattles the loudest" and that is certainly the case here.  One of his main comments was that he was going to be "in my face" at every show. As luck would have it, he showed up at our last show and to make a long story short, the guy likes to type threats, he doesn't back them up.

All of this because of jealousy over a local band being promoted. Wow. What should be a proud moment for a local band, being ruined by jealous, talentless, loudmouths.  Anyways, I don't spend my day dwelling on this, I've been through things like this dozen of times of times before. It's a tempest in a teapot and most of you could (unfortunately) care less about local bands.

So once again, how long do you let someone badmouth you before you say, enough? It's not retribution, we don't care what they do, we just don't want to be around them anymore. Oh, and the band that started all this drama? The most money they've ever made on a gig was at FMX BAND CAMP.  Seriously, I couldn't make this stuff up.

So why am I writing this? I thought you guys might find this psuedo-drama amusing and I haven't had any good movies to write about (jeez, I can't make it through Inception). I'm about halfway through the Chili Peppers c.d. so I can't write about that yet.  Most of all, you have to remember that when you look at Facebook and stuff, what you see is based on who your friends are. I got rid of these negative people a week or so ago, so right now there are a FEW people seeing one side of an incredibly silly situation (and I'm not one of them). I dropped these knuckleheads as friends a week or so ago so I only hear stuff second hand from concerned folk.

Anyways, as always, we appreciate the support we've received from you the last 30 years. Those of you who know us know we don't go stomping around like Godzilla; we just don't want to hang out with people who trash us.

So do you want to know who they are? Sorry.  The BEST thing I could do for them is to recognize that they exist, in my world they no longer do.  I just have to write blogs.
