I personally think that it's pretty cool that Pancho Clos, or at least the idea of him was born and bred right here in Lubbock Texas.  The American GI Forum came up with the idea in 1971.

Pancho Clos isn't a replacement for Santa, but Santa's "Mexican friend from the South Pole"  (I guess he moved from Mexico down south). Instead of "Ho, Ho, Ho" his trademark phrase is "Aieeeeee!". Pancho Clos is not to be confused with Pancho Claus who is a zoot-suited version of the character around the Houston area.  Pancho Clos will be visiting with the good girls and boys this Sunday at the Maggie Trejo Supercenter from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Here's the details from the city of Lubbock!
